Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP)
MKP 0-52-34 — a chlorine-free, fully water-soluble phosphate and potassium source for fertigation, foliar programmes and high-value horticulture.
0-52-34 KH2PO4 CAS 7778-77-0 White crystal or crystalline powder
Available on enquiry — supply confirmed per order
Monopotassium phosphate supplies phosphate and potassium with no nitrogen and no chloride. That combination is the reason it is specified in horticulture: at the reproductive stage a crop often needs phosphate and potash but not more nitrogen, and chloride-sensitive crops cannot take muriate of potash.
MKP is fully water-soluble and near-neutral in solution, which makes it compatible with a wide range of tank mixes and safe for drip systems. It is the standard potassium phosphate in soluble blend formulations and in foliar programmes on fruit, vegetables and vines.
It is a purified product rather than a bulk fertilizer, so it is bought in smaller quantities and at a higher unit value than MAP or DAP. Volume is measured in hundreds of tonnes rather than thousands.
Specification
The table below gives the nominal analysis and the parameters that a buyer should write into the contract. Values that depend on the production lot are not printed as numbers here, because a number on a website is not a guarantee — the lot COA is.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| P2O5 | 52% min |
| K2O | 34% min |
| Water-insoluble matter | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA |
| Moisture | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA |
| pH (1% solution) | 4.3–4.7 typical |
| Chloride (Cl) | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA Declared per lot for chloride-sensitive buyers |
| Appearance | White crystal or powder |
Typical values describe the grade as it is normally traded. The guaranteed analysis for your order is the one stated on the certificate of analysis issued for the production lot, and it is confirmed in the sales contract before shipment.
Applications
- Fertigation on fruit, vegetables, vines and ornamentals
- Foliar programmes at flowering and fruit fill
- Soluble NPK and PK blend manufacture
- Chloride-sensitive crops
Why this product, and not the one next to it
No nitrogen, no chloride
Phosphate and potash without pushing nitrogen or chloride, which is what late-season and chloride-sensitive programmes require.
Fully soluble and compatible
A near-neutral solution that tank-mixes widely and does not scale an irrigation line.
High nutrient density
86% combined P2O5 and K2O in a single soluble crystal, so storage and freight per nutrient unit are low.
Packaging options
- 25 kg PP woven bags with PE liner
- 25 kg paper bags
- 1000 kg jumbo bags (FIBC)
Loading quantity depends on packaging, container type and the weight limit of the destination country. It is confirmed per order. The bag type, bag weight, liner and marks are stated on the quotation so that two offers can be compared on the same basis.
Quality documentation
- Certificate of analysis for the production lot
- Technical data sheet
- Material safety data sheet
- Packing list and commercial invoice
- Certificate of origin
Documents are issued on a per-shipment basis. Certification availability is confirmed for each order before contract.
Export considerations
MKP is a technical/fertilizer grade product. Where a food-contact or feed chain claim is needed, that is a different grade with different documentation and must be specified at enquiry rather than assumed.
Do not tank-mix with calcium solutions: calcium phosphate precipitates.
Chinese export inspection and licensing requirements are confirmed per order at the time of shipment.
Export regulations and import requirements can change. This is a general overview written for buyers, not a substitute for confirming current requirements with your customs broker and with our export team before you commit to a shipment.
Questions buyers ask about MKP
Why use MKP instead of MAP in fertigation?
Because MKP adds potash and no nitrogen. At flowering and fruit fill a crop usually wants phosphate and potassium while nitrogen has to be held back; MKP does that in one product. It is also chlorine-free, which MAP is not relevant to but muriate of potash is.
Is MKP the same as potassium sulfate?
No. Potassium sulfate (SOP) is 0-0-50 with 18% sulphur and no phosphate. MKP is 0-52-34 — phosphate and potash. They are used for different reasons and are not substitutes.
What quantity is normally traded?
MKP moves in smaller lots than bulk MAP or DAP — commonly in the range of a few hundred tonnes per order, in 25 kg bags or jumbo bags. It is a formulated-product input rather than a commodity applied by the hectare.
