Packaging and shipping phosphate from China

Two quotations at the same price per tonne can differ by the bag, the liner and the loaded quantity per container. This page sets out what those differences are, so the comparison you make is between comparable offers.

Packaging options

The bag is not packaging in the retail sense; it is part of the delivery specification. It decides how the material handles at the discharge port, how long it stores, and how much actually fits in the container.

Packaging formats and where each one is used
Format Typical use Points to agree
25 kg PP woven bag Retail and distributor markets; soluble grades Liner gauge, print, palletisation
50 kg PP woven bag The standard bulk-fertilizer bag Liner inclusion, bag weight tolerance, print
1000 / 1250 kg jumbo bag (FIBC) Blend plants, ports with expensive bag handling SWL, discharge spout, liner, UV stabilisation
Bulk in vessel Full cargoes into silo capacity Hold cleanliness, loading rate, discharge equipment

Confirmed per order: Loaded quantity per container depends on the packaging, the container type and the weight limit enforced by the destination country. It is confirmed per order and stated on the quotation, not assumed from a standard figure.

What the bag has to carry

  • Product name and nutrient analysis, in the form your market requires
  • Net weight
  • Lot or batch number, if your registration requires traceability
  • Manufacturer or exporter identification, as the destination requires
  • Handling and storage marks, in the language of the destination

Bag printing is agreed per order and applied at the plant. It is worth checking the artwork before production rather than after: reprinting a bag run delays a shipment by weeks and the cost lands on whoever approved the proof.

Container or breakbulk

Containers suit parcels up to a few hundred tonnes and destinations with reliable container service. Breakbulk or a part-cargo in a vessel suits larger volumes and destinations where container freight is expensive or the receiver can take a full hold.

The trade-off is not only rate. A container is sealed at the plant and opened at the receiver, which is a cleaner chain of custody. Bulk cargo is handled at both ends, which is faster per tonne but exposes the material to weather and to handling loss. For a first shipment, a container is usually the lower-risk choice.

Trade terms

We quote FOB from the Chinese loading port. If you would rather we arrange the ocean leg, CFR or CIF can be considered on request — but freight is quoted against the sailing available at the time, so the CFR or CIF figure is confirmed in the quotation rather than published as a standing rate.

Payment

Payment is arranged by T/T. The deposit percentage, the balance timing and any other condition are agreed for the order and written into the sales contract, so what you sign is what applies.

Deposit and balance terms are agreed per order and confirmed in the sales contract.

Loading port

The loading port is fixed per order: it follows the production source and the sailing available at the time of booking, and it is named in the quotation and confirmed in the sales contract. Tell us the discharge port and we will quote on the basis that actually works for that cargo.

Documents that travel with the cargo

  • Certificate of analysis for the production lot
  • Technical data sheet and material safety data sheet
  • Packing list and commercial invoice
  • Certificate of origin
  • Bill of lading, or the sea waybill your terms require
  • Phytosanitary certificate, where the destination requires it
  • Any destination-specific declaration confirmed at quotation stage

Documents are issued on a per-shipment basis. Certification availability is confirmed for each order before contract.

Compare two offers properly

Send both quotations and we will tell you where they genuinely differ — bag, liner, loaded quantity, basis of analysis — and where the difference is only presentation.
